Summary

ETHROFLOX™ PLUS Ointments is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory topical preparation designed to treat mixed bacterial, fungal, and inflammatory skin infections. Combining the actions of an antibiotic (ofloxacin), antiprotozoal (ornidazole), antifungal (itraconazole), and a potent corticosteroid (clobetasol propionate), it offers a synergistic approach to managing complicated dermal infections with inflammatory components.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

  • Burning or stinging at the application site

  • Dryness, redness, or itching

  • Skin thinning (prolonged use)

  • Telangiectasia (spider veins) with long-term corticosteroid use

  • Allergic skin reactions (rash, swelling)

  • Rare: skin atrophy, striae (stretch marks), hypopigmentation

Usage

  • Clean and dry the affected area before application.

  • Apply a thin layer of ETHROFLOX™ PLUS Ointments over the affected area 1–2 times daily or as directed by the physician.

  • Do not cover with occlusive dressings unless advised.

  • Wash hands thoroughly after use.

Concerns

  • Avoid use on the face for long durations.

  • Not recommended for use in children under 12 without medical advice.

  • Prolonged use may lead to resistance or steroid-induced skin damage.

  • Do not apply near eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes.

When not to use?

  • Known hypersensitivity to any of the components

  • Viral skin infections (herpes, varicella)

  • Tuberculous or syphilitic skin lesions

  • Acne vulgaris, rosacea, perioral dermatitis

  • Open wounds or ulcerative skin conditions without physician supervision

Warnings

ETHROFLOX™ PLUS Ointments For external use only; avoid ingestion or contact with eyes.

  • Do not use for longer than prescribed to avoid skin damage.

  • Use caution in pregnant or breastfeeding women; consult a doctor.

  • Avoid abrupt discontinuation after prolonged use—taper under medical advice.

Dosage

  • Apply thinly over affected area once or twice daily depending on severity, or as prescribed.

  • Duration: Generally, 7–14 days; prolonged use only under medical supervision.

Interactions

ETHROFLOX™ PLUS OintmentsAvoid combining with other topical corticosteroids or antifungals without doctor’s advice.

  • Systemic absorption is minimal, but caution is advised in patients on systemic corticosteroids, antifungals, or quinolone antibiotics.

General Instructions

  • Use exactly as prescribed; do not increase frequency or duration.

  • Do not share the medication with others.

  • Complete the prescribed course even if symptoms improve early.

  • If irritation or allergy occurs, discontinue and consult a physician.

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
