Summary

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS is an antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial infections affecting your lungs, skin, and urinary tract (the kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra). It works by stopping the growth of bacteria that causes infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses.

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS can cause side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or become worse. Avoid activities that require mental focus like driving and operating machines as this medicine may cause dizziness.

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS can be taken with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will determine the dose of this medicine based on your condition. Take this medicine at the same time every day for the ease of remembering. Complete the whole course of treatment for maximum benefit and to prevent the risk of re-infection.

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Avoid taking this medicine if you have tendinitis (a condition that causes swelling of the tissues that attach bones with muscles) or myasthenia gravis (a condition that causes severe weakness of the muscles under voluntary control).

Urinary tract infection

An infection in any part of your urinary system (kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra) is called a urinary tract infection (UTI). UTIs are caused by bacteria and in some cases, viruses or fungi. ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS is used to treat urinary tract infections caused by bacteria.

Pyelonephritis

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS is used to treat pyelonephritis which is the swelling of the kidneys due to bacterial infection. This infection starts in your urethra or bladder and spreads through the ureters to the kidneys.

Urethritis

Urethritis is the swelling of the urethra, a small tube that carries urine from the bladder. ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS is used to treat urethritis caused by bacteria.

Cystitis

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS is used to treat cystitis caused by bacteria. It is a swelling of your urinary bladder usually caused by a bacterial infection. This is more common in women.

Community-acquired pneumonia

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) refers to pneumonia (lung infection) that is acquired outside the hospital. CAP can be bacterial or viral. ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS is used to treat CAP caused by bacteria.

Bronchitis

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria. It is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs.

Traveller's diarrhoea

Traveller's diarrhoea is a stomach and intestinal infection that causes loose stools and stomach cramps. Drinking or eating contaminated water or food can lead to this condition. ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS is used for the treatment of diarrhoea caused while travelling.

Skin and soft tissue infections

Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS is used to treat all skin infections including abscess caused by bacteria.

Gonorrhea

Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by Neisseria gonorrhoea bacteria that infects both men and women. It spreads during vaginal, oral or anal sex without using a condom or other barrier method. ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS ais used to treat the gonococcal infection.

When not to use?

Allergy

Avoid using ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB if you are allergic to it. If you notice any allergic reactions like redness, swelling (anywhere in your body), hives (skin rash), breathing difficulty etc., seek immediate medical attention. 

Tendinitis or tendon rupture

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB can cause muscle damage especially in old age. Do not use ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB if you have tendonitis (swelling of fibres that attach bone with muscles) or tendon rupture (a partial or complete tear of the tendon- the tissue that connects muscle to bone) as may worsen your condition.

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a skeletal muscle weakness condition characterized by severe weakness of any of the muscles under your voluntary control like arms and legs. ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB should be avoided if you have myasthenia gravis as it may worsen your condition.

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB is not recommended to be used in pregnancy as it may harm your foetus. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

General warnings

Muscle damage

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB can cause muscle damage usually on the tendons that surround your ankle. Inform your doctor if you feel pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB, even if the condition gets better after taking a few doses to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.

Driving or operating machinery

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB may cause dizziness or sleepiness and interfere with eyesight. Hence, do not drive vehicles or operate machines after taking this medicine.

Photosensitivity

 may make you more sensitive to sunlight or tanning lights. Use sunscreens or wear protective clothing before stepping outside to avoid undesirable effects.

Diarrhoea

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody.

Antacids

If you are taking an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium salts for indigestion, it can increase the time takes for ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB to act on your body. Hence, it is recommended to take this medicine at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking antacids.

Dosage

Missed Dose

Do not skip any dose of ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose time is near, skip the missed dose and take your next scheduled dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. Seek emergency medical attention if you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of ETHNOFLOX-200MG TAB.

Colitis

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS is used with extreme caution if you have gastrointestinal (stomach and intestines) diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon), as it may worsen your condition.

QT Prolongation

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS may cause heart rhythm problems called prolonged QT intervals (an electrical heartbeat disturbance) if you are taking heart medications. It may result in fast, rapid, and irregular heartbeats.

Kidney diseases

ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS should be taken with caution if you have kidney disease as a damaged kidney may lead to accumulation of this medicine and increases the risk of side effects. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine as needed based on your condition.

Food interactions

Avoid consuming multivitamins with minerals while taking ETHNOFLOX-200MG TABLETS. If needed it is suggested to take this medicine before 2 to 4 hours or after 4 to 6 hours of taking multivitamins with minerals.
