CEFTHIXSUL - SB 1.5GM Injection is a combination of Ceftriaxone and Sulbactam. Bacterial Meningitis
Bacterial meningitis is an infection of the meninges, the protective layer that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. It starts when bacteria get into your bloodstream and travel to your brain and spinal cord. CEFTHIXSUL - SB 1.5GM Injection is used to treat bacterial meningitis.
Skin and Skin Structure Infection
Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. CEFTHIXSUL - SB 1.5GM Injection is used to treat all skin infections including abscess (collection of pus) caused by bacteria.
Acute bacterial otitis media

Lower Respiratory Tract Infection
CEFTHIXSUL - SB 1.5GM Injection is used to treat the following lung infections:
1. Pneumonia- It is an infection of the air sacs in the lungs (either single or both lungs). It can be caused due to bacteria or viruses. This medicine is used to treat pneumonia caused by bacteria.
2. Bronchitis- It is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. This medicine is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria.
Surgical prophylaxis
CEFTHIXSUL - SB 1.5GM Injection is also used prior to a surgical procedure and after surgery to prevent bacterial infections.
Intra-abdominal Infection
Intra-abdominal infection (IAI) describes a number of infections. It includes peritonitis (swelling of the peritoneum-lining of the abdominal wall), pancreatitis (swelling of the pancreas- an organ located behind the lower part of the stomach), diverticulitis (swelling of diverticula- one or more small pouches in the intestine), cholecystitis (swelling of the gallbladder-a small digestive organ that sits just under the liver), and cholangitis (swelling of the bile duct system). Pelvic inflammatory disease is an infection of the female reproductive organs caused by bacteria like Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoea, etc. In this infection, the bacteria first enter the vagina and move into the pelvic organs- fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, and the uterus, causing infection. CEFTHIXSUL - SB 1.5GM Injection is used to treat pelvic inflammatory disease.

Antibiotic resistance

Diarrhoea
CEFTHIXSUL - SB 1.5GM Injection can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Inform your doctor if you experience severe diarrhoea while receiving this medicine.
Use in neonates
CEFTHIXSUL - SB 1.5GM Injection is not recommended for use in neonates (babies less than 28 days of age) since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.
Liver disease
