Summary

MOXIETHIX™-T is a broad-spectrum dual antibiotic ophthalmic formulation combining Moxifloxacin (a fluoroquinolone) and Tobramycin (an aminoglycoside). This combination provides enhanced coverage against gram-positive and gram-negative ocular pathogens responsible for external eye infections. The synergistic action helps in rapid eradication of bacteria, reduction of inflammation, and faster symptomatic relief.

Side Effects

Usually mild and transient. It may or may not cause:

  • Burning or stinging sensation

  • Redness or irritation

  • Dry eyes

  • Blurred vision temporarily

  • Eyelid itching or swelling

  • Allergic reactions (rare)

Discontinue if severe hypersensitivity occurs.

Usage

  • For topical ophthalmic use only

  • Instill the solution into the affected eye as advised by the physician

  • Maintain strict hygiene while using the dropper to avoid contamination

Concerns

  • Do not touch dropper tip to any surface

  • Avoid use of contact lenses during treatment

  • Prolonged use may lead to fungal overgrowth

  • Use with caution in patients with known drug allergies

When not to use?

  • Hypersensitivity to:

    • Moxifloxacin

    • Tobramycin

    • Other quinolones or aminoglycosides

  • Viral or fungal eye infections

  • Perforated tympanic membrane (if used in ear off-label)

Warnings

 

  • For external use only

  • Not for injection

  • Use cautiously in:

    • Pregnant & lactating women

    • Pediatric patients below 1 year

  • Stop medication if rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty occurs

  • Avoid driving immediately after instillation due to blurred vision

Dosage

Adults & Children (above 1 year):

  • 1 drop in the affected eye 3–4 times daily for 5–7 days

  • In severe infections: 1 drop every 2 hours initially, then reduce frequency

Or as directed by the ophthalmologist

Interactions

  • Other topical ophthalmic antibiotics

  • Corticosteroid eye drops

  • Systemic aminoglycosides (increased toxicity risk)

Maintain at least 10 minutes gap between two different eye medications.

General Instructions

  • Wash hands before and after use

  • Shake well before use

  • Do not share the bottle

  • Complete the full course even if symptoms improve

  • Store below 25°C, protect from light
