Summary

Methyl Prednisolone is a corticosteroid which is used to relieve symptoms such as pain and swelling in various conditions like arthritis and allergic disorders. Do not stop the use of this medicine suddenly since this may cause severe side effects.

What is it prescribed for?

  • Acute Gout

    This medicine is used in the treatment of Gout which is a type of joint inflammation. Sudden pain at night time and redness of the joints are some of the symptoms of Gout.

    This medicine is used in the treatment of Psoriasis which is a type of skin disease characterized by red, scaly, and itchy skin patches.

  • Nephrotic syndrome

    This medicine is used in the treatment of Nephrotic syndrome which is a type of kidney disease characterized by swelling around the feet and ankles, weight gain, foamy urine, etc.

Intramuscular injection of this medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

General warnings

Infections

Impaired kidney function
